Families Welcomed at Inaugural Open House

Einstein hosted its first-ever Parent & Family Program Open House on Aug. 13, celebrating family members of incoming students as an essential part of the medical school community. Attendees were provided the opportunity to connect with leadership, faculty, and alumni at the daylong event. Yaron Tomer, M.D., the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Einstein, and Yoon Kang, M.D., vice dean for education, welcomed everyone to the Einstein family, while Suzanne M. Murphy, Ed.D., vice president of development, introduced ways parents and families can engage with the College of Medicine through upcoming programs and events.

Parents hoist a sign that proclaims their love for their Einstein student.

Richard Frankenstein, M.D. ’74, president of the Einstein Alumni Association, spoke about the lifelong value of the Einstein network, and Einstein Trustee Sarah J. Schlesinger, M.D., parent of a Class of 2025 Einstein graduate, shared her perspective on supporting a child through medical school.

Medical student Melissa Rony leads family members on a tour of Einstein's new Harry H. Gordon Anatomy Lab.

Participants were given immersive tours of several medical school learning spaces, including the newly opened Harry H. Gordon Anatomy Lab and Surgical Skills Center, the Ruth L. Gottesman Clinical Skills Center, and the D. Samuel Gottesman Library.

Afterward, families gathered in Robbins Auditorium to watch the students receive their white coats during the On Becoming a Physician ceremony.
