Spirit of Achievement Marks 70th Anniversary

Einstein Women’s Division celebrates a record-setting event

What do Eleanor Roosevelt, Meryl Streep, and Billie Jean King have in common? The Einstein Women’s Division has honored each of them at one of its annual Spirit of Achievement Luncheons. On May 14, 2024, more than 250 supporters gathered for the 70th anniversary event, which raised a record $760,000—and counting!—for groundbreaking research at Einstein.

This year’s honorees included Betsy C. Herold, M.D., the Harold and Muriel Block Chair in Pediatrics and chief of the division of pediatric infectious diseases, who received the inaugural Ruth L. Gottesman Award for Scientific Advancement. Dr. Herold’s basic and translational research is breaking new ground in the study of the herpes simplex virus and other common viral diseases.

The luncheon also honored the contributions of Trustee Carol B. Einiger, who received the Leadership Spirit of Achievement Award, as well as celebrated artist Deborah Kass, who received the Trailblazer Award. All three women have worked tirelessly in their own ways to change the world for the better.
