Einstein Around the World

Einstein Around the World

South Africa, Peru, India, Ghana and Guatemala are just some of the countries that 60 Einstein second-year students visited last summer through the Global Health Fellowship program. In September 2013, the travelers gathered to share their experiences—and their mission—with more than 50 first-year students at “Around the World,” the first Global Health Club event of the year. In October during Global Health Week, students learned about traveling abroad at:a panel presentation in which second-year students described projects supported by the Global Health Fellowship Program and shared advice with first-year students;

  • a reception and photo exhibit held in the Forchheimer hallway, known as Einstein’s “Main Street”;
  • Global Health Trivia Night, which drew an enthusiastic group of students;
  • a presentation by Richard A. Murphy, M.D., assistant professor of medicine at Einstein and attending physician in medicine at Montefiore, the University Hospital and academic medical center for Einstein, who shared his experiences working abroad with Doctors without Borders; and
  • a “Meet and Greet” with some 80 students and 40 faculty members.
