A Look Back: Pediatric Rounds

Sixty years ago, in July 1964, the initial phase of the affiliation between Einstein and Montefiore began when Einstein medical students joined Montefiore’s house staff for rounds in pediatrics. Other medical student activities, all conducted under the supervision of full-time physicians, attending physicians, and residents, included participation in conferences and case presentations and the preparation of medical histories and physicals, much like what is still done today. Second- and third-year students later that year also began rotating through Montefiore in the divisions of anesthesiology, surgery, radiology, and pathology, and through the cardiology service.
